Our client collaborated with a landscape architect to bring her dream backyard to life, and we are thrilled to play a key role in this transformation. Tasked with installing sleek new french doors and constructing a sophisticated patio cover. We carefully reframed the bedroom wall and built a seamless passage to the garden. This is where we started. The siding is removed before waterproofing and installing the ledger.
We First framed up the basic shape of the deck. Poured the footing and let them set while we framed in the doorway.
The new header is in and the opening is about to be cut open. We did insulate the wall and added 1/2" sheeting on the inside for added lateral strength. Finishing the new drywall and door casing to match the original materials.
The new opening! Ready for the door. This photo shows the plastic wall we put up in the middle of the bedroom to keep the construction dust out of the home.
That looks sharp. Insulated and ready for the exterior door casing.
Ready for paint! The door casing details match the existing home.
Pre Cover Inspection of the deck framing.
Staircase.
TimberTech English Walnut decking and skirting. Beam is up and ready for the patio cover framing.
With this style of patio cover, we use these Sky-Lift brackets to hold the ridge beam. They screw directly to the double top plate of the exterior wall.
A top view of the cedar patio cover frame. Flashing is installed and ready for the Acrylite Wave panels.
The patio cover is complete. The black flashing at the top is necessary to keep water from entering from the backside.
Check out this great video of the completed project.
The horizontal skirting turned out great. I especially like how the Wild Hog Panels go into the posts at the angled sections.
The access door blends in. The TimberTech capping the handrail is a nice touch.
The steps on the side were designed to be converted to a handicap ramp if ever needed. This was a fun project.
